Strands Labs, Inc. complies with the EU Safe Harbor framework as set forth by the Department of Commerce regarding the collection, use, and retention of data from the European Union.
Strands collects information in several ways. First, we use server logs to collect anonymous, aggregate information (such as browser type, ISP, IP address, referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks) from all visitors to the Sites as well as users of mobile services. Our Sites also use a standard technology called “cookies” to collect information about how the Site is used. Information gathered through cookies may include the pages viewed and the amount of time spent at the Site. This type of information is typically not linked to any personally identifiable information and is used primarily in the aggregate to generate statistical reports about the use of our Site. Strands does reserve the right to connect any information collected through its server logs with any other personally identifiable information it collects. The types of personal information collected by Strands are described in detail in the next paragraph. The possible uses Strands may make of your personal information are also described below. The combined aggregate and personal information may be used for any of these same purposes as described below.
Third, you may provide additional information in the course of your use of the Services. For example, when you use the Strands.com training logs, you may associate a variety of information with your account relating to your training, nutrition, weight, sports injuries or food intake. You may also use the Strands.com services to track and post mapped routes. You are the owner of these kinds of posted information. You can control who gets to see this information by logging in and accessing your account settings. However, you should be aware that even if you limit the circle of people allowed to view your posts, nothing prevents one of them from reposting or forwarding the information. In addition, the publication of your real-time location data could present a risk to your personal safety or property. For these reasons, you should be careful about what you post and who is allowed to see it. If you delete a post, the information in the post will no longer be available to other users. Likewise, if you delete your Strands account, all of your posts will be deleted. However, deletion will not affect information that has been reposted or saved by another user. In addition, the information may be preserved after deletion on our backup systems.
Fourth, you can use the Strands Services to repost your Strands postings to other sites. For example, you can feed your Strands posts to Facebook or Twitter. In that case, we will collect your username and password for the sole purpose of allowing you to login to your account and give the necessary permissions to allow the feed. We will retain that information to provide the service, and use it only for that purpose. Posts made by you on an aggregated third party site will also be accessible on the Strands Service.
Inviting Friends and Importing Contacts
Please do not use the invite feature to invite anyone that has not already consented to receive email from you. Such usage is a violation of our Terms of Service. If you choose to invite friends to Strands, we will ask you for your friends”™ email addresses. You may manually enter addresses, or you may import contacts from your email address books. In order to import contact addresses, you must submit the login and password for your email account. We will not use this information except to process the request to import contacts, send the invitations and track the success of our invite program. We will not send unsolicited email to your contacts, and they may contact us to request that we remove their information from our database. Whether you manually enter your contacts or you import them, the return address for the invitation emails will be the address you used to register for Strands. After importing the contacts, you can choose which ones to invite. You may use our invitation message, or you may modify it with your own language. In either case, if you have imported contacts, the email message your friends receive will come from your email account.
